Collecting art is often driven by marketing tactics that lead one to think that if they don’t act now, they are going to miss the opportunity to score a bag they will never ever have a chance to score again. But collecting impulsively leads to poor decision making and can end your practice of looking at art more deeply.
Can you practice looking deeply? Try reading about the artist. Think about spending time in their studio. Picture yourself talking with others about the work. What ideas come to mind?
